PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 30, 2004--Legendary media critic and commentator Michael Medved, host of The Michael Medved Show, returns to his roots to receive a very special honor on Independence Weekend, according to WNTP-AM (990) programming/marketing manager Mark Daniels.

Medved will throw out the first pitch for NewsTalk 990's "Michael Medved Day at the Phillies(TM)" on Monday, July 5 at Philadelphia's new Citizen's Bank Park(TM). He will broadcast his nationally-syndicated radio program, The Michael Medved Show, which airs 3P-6P eastern time, that afternoon from the facility -- the newest major-league ballpark in America.

"Though he makes his home now in Seattle, Michael's a dyed-in-the-wool Phillies(TM) fan," says Daniels. "His passion for the team goes back to the `whiz-kids' of the 1950s...through the years at Connie Mack Stadium, the World Series win...to today, when we have a pennant-quality club, playing in a brand new park. I spoke with Michael yesterday about it, and he's as excited as a child going to his first ballgame with his Dad."

July 5 also is Hatfield Phillies Franks(R) Dollar Dogs Day at the park, as the Phillies(TM) take on the archrival New York Mets(TM). For terrace-level seating in the WNTP section, ask for Erin Wade in the ticket office at 215-463-5000 ext. 5653, or log on www.NewsTalk990.com to order online.
