KCBQ 1170AM Takes ``Larson Live'' on the Road to Help Southern California Fire Victims
Thursday, November 13, 2003 5:23 pm PSTInclement weather did not hamper the volume of volunteers who showed up to aid in the clean-up efforts. An appeal went out over the airwaves for ponchos, which were needed by volunteers. By the end of the "Larson Live" show yesterday morning, over 325 ponchos had arrived from three different listeners. "A representative of Sea World brought 150 ponchos, and the remaining 175 were from random sources," stated David St. John of the Shadow Mountain Community Church Crest Fire Relief Center.
"The ponchos were just one indication of the kind of support we are getting. The strength of community and humanity is shown in the people that are volunteering. I continue to be amazed by the outpour of support, even in the middle of a monsoon," remarked "Larson Live" host Mark Larson.
"Larson Live," heard weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on KCBQ 1170AM, will hit the road again this week, as it broadcasts live from the Julian Town Hall on Friday, November 14, 2003. "We were so encouraged by the overwhelming response of our listeners yesterday morning, we have decided to extend our remote broadcast coverage to all the affected areas. We will continue to provide information regarding the tireless efforts, and will do so until all reparations are completed," commented Kimberly Bianco, Promotions Director for KCBQ 1170AM and KPRZ 1210AM.
