CAMARILLO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 20, 2003--Salem Communications (Nasdaq:SALM), the leading radio broadcaster focused on religious- and family-themed programming, has announced that Dave Armstrong, Regional Vice President of Operations and General Manager for Salem of Los Angeles, will be relocating to New York to oversee Salem's radio operations in the northeast, according to Joe D. Davis, Salem's Executive Vice President for Radio.

With this move, Armstrong will serve as General Manager for WMCA-AM and WWDJ-AM in New York, and also assume operational oversight for Salem's stations in the Boston market. Armstrong has been a General Manager for Salem Communications since 1994 and played a large role in the creation of Salem's contemporary Christian music format, The Fish(R).

Dave Armstrong commented on his cross-country move by saying: "Through the growth seen in KFSH (The Fish) in Los Angeles and the continued success of KKLA-FM and KRLA-AM, I feel rewarded for my nine years in the L.A. market. I expect to bring my experiences and successes into New York and am confident to say that there are great things to come."

In turn, Salem will be saying a fond farewell to N.Y. General Manager Carl Miller. Miller has served in management for Salem Communications since 1989, including three years as a General Manager in the Cleveland market. After serving as Operations Manager for WMCA-AM and WWDJ-AM, he became General Manager in 2000. Miller will be pursuing other avenues in religious broadcasting. He has been the voice of John MacArthur's "Grace to You" broadcast since 1986.

Joe D. Davis commented: "Dave Armstrong brings a new level of creativity and vision to New York and our other markets in the northeast. We are looking forward to seeing the same kind of growth in the northeast that Dave has helped to generate in the L.A. market. Carl Miller has served this company well in New York and Cleveland, and he will be missed by his friends and colleagues and by Salem."

Acting as General Manager for Salem of Los Angeles will be Terry Fahy. Fahy began with Salem in 1982 as General Manager of KDAR and KGFT, and has been Vice President of Sales for Salem of Los Angeles since 1986.

Dave Armstrong will relocate to New Jersey with his wife, Sara. His last day at Salem of Los Angeles will be May 23rd.
