Mark Elfstrand Joins AM 1160 WYLL as Afternoon Host

CAMARILLO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/14/14 -- Salem Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: SALM) announced today that beginning May 20, 2014, Mark Elfstrand will join AM 1160 WYLL as the host of "Let's Talk with Mark Elfstrand," heard weekday afternoons from 4-6pm.

Elfstrand has more than thirty years of broadcast experience, most recently with Moody Radio in Chicago, where he hosted morning drive for nearly fifteen years. From 1991-1998, he was the talk radio voice of WORD-FM in Pittsburgh. Elfstrand was the morning voice and program director for two Dallas radio stations from 1987-1990 -- KOJO 94 (later KLTY) and KCBI-FM.

Elfstrand has authored two books: Recliner Reflections, a devotional style book of inspirational thoughts based on his open heart surgery; and 10 Passions of a Man's Soul. He has also been instrumental in establishing two community wide ministries: The Greater Pittsburgh Community Leaders Prayer Breakfast and the Chicago Executive Forum.

Elfstrand is a native of Minnesota and has traveled to all fifty states and to more than 20 countries. He attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Seattle (now Trinity College) and later American River College and Sierra College, both in California. He served in the United States Air Force from 1971-1975, during which time he worked for the American Forces Radio and Television Service as a news and sports journalist in Iceland.

Mark and his wife Rhonda reside in the southwest suburbs of Chicago and have three married children and six grandchildren.
